Take them to Met Opera….virtually
The Met Opera have generously offered past performances available to stream by the public at select times. Tomorrow, Handel’s Agrippina will be streaming at 7:30PM ET at https://metoperafree.brightcove-services.com. Handel’s Agrippina tells the story of Aggripina—mother of Nero’s—plot to make her son the new Roman emperor. It’s a previous performance from February 2020.
Dine at home
Saskatoon is home to fantastic restaurants and home bakers, and the great things is the cuisine is so diverse that you can try out food from different part of the world. You can check out Planet Mag’s 2020 Best of Food list for ideas: https://planetsmag.com/best-of-food-2020/. The list crowdsourced the city’s list of the best appetizers, soups, pita, just to name a few.
Go for a walk or hike
The best things in life do not cost anything, and maybe what they really need is just time for a visit. Take them for a walk or sightseeing at Saskatoon’s nature spots

• Wanuskewin Heritage Park (RR #4 Penner Road Saskatoon, SK)
The area features the historical First Nations’ land where you can see buffalo jump sites, medicine wheels, and a long trail to explore. It offers very scenic views of the South Saskatchewan river where you can take a stroll and even dine at their restaurant where they offer traditional Indigenous cuisine
• Beaver Creek Conservation area (Corman Park No. 344, SK)
Wildlife thrives at this location, and will be ideal for bird-watching and even deer-spotting (if this is even an activity). It is also a great play to just read a book and relax.
• Cranberry Flats Conservation area (Range Rd 3055, Saskatoon, SK)
The area overlooks the Saskatchewan river, so it is great for sightseeing and even berry picking in the later months. There’s a nicely-maintained walkway that leads to a viewpoint and a bench where you can relax while watching everyone below kayak or canoe the river. There’s not much wildlife as Beaver Creek but the views are also just as impressive.
